November Carnival Theme-Celebrating Life Events

This month’s theme is Celebrating Life Events. I have been thinking about the holidays that are upcoming, both public and our personal ones, and thinking about how celebrating has changed for me since I was a child. My perspective shifts change the way I think, live and be. That includes celebrating.

  • How has celebrating changed in your house?
  • How do you celebrate, and why?
  • How do I make Christmas (insert holiday) special without the deprivation before hand?
  • What about relatives?
  • Celebrating Birth days and other anniversaries
  • Adding or stopping certain holidays
  • Feeling abundant in a daily celebration of life

How do YOU celebrate?

This months blog submissions due 21 November.

If you are not a blogger… consider submitting photographs? :-)

October Theme: Why Do You Do What You Do?

WDYDWYD?

This month’s blog carnival theme comes from a Twitter follower/friend Diana Jenner (@hahamommy). The discussion was about people’s reasons for unschooling. Why do you unschool? Is it a feeling or did you come to it by trial and error or much research?

This theme is pretty open-ended. Think about not just what thoughts and experiences led you to the path you’re currently on, but what daily reminders life may present you that your particular choices are right.

September Theme: Unschooling Plus!

September’s topic is: “Unschooling Plus!”

The principles of unschooling pervade our lives, but there’s no such thing as a single “unschooling lifestyle”. How do you meld other aspects of your life, your wider values and passions with the principles of unschooling?

Send your links by Aug 31th please!

For instance, how do you incorporate unschooling principles with:

  • Religious beliefs
  • Personal ethics
  • Dietary issues
  • Health concerns
  • Home business, farm, or work-related travel
  • Living with adults outside the nuclear family
  • Political activism
  • Longstanding adult hobbies

August 2010 Theme — Picking up the pieces

This month’s topic is: Picking up the pieces.

It’s easy unschooling when everything’s going well, but what about when it’s not? How do you maintain a sense of support and partnership when it seems like things are falling down around your ears? Share tales of unschooling through the rough stuff.

Some possible directions:

  • How do you pick up the pieces when you’ve fallen down or fallen apart? How do you rebuild trust and security between family members (kids and/or spouses).
  • How do you maintain a sense of abundance during “lean” times?
  • How has unschooling sustained you and your family during a crisis?
  • How do you get from feeling that your life is a shambles to confidence and contentment – on an emotional level, or when housework gets That bad.
  • What kind of support have you found helpful during harder times? Family? Friends? Strangers?
  • When have you been able to help someone else who is having a hard time? How has that informed your unschooling life?

The deadline for submissions is July 28 – please send links to your submissions to EnjoyLifeUnschooling@gmail.com

Look forward to reading your stories!
